PixelPets is a Chrome extension. Your pets walk the bottom of every page you read, nap when you ignore them, say hello when you come back, and answer questions about whatever is on screen — each in its own voice.

What they do

They notice you

Come back after a few hours and your pet says hello first. It speaks up on its own now and then — at most once an hour, and never while you are typing. Type /talk to choose how often, or turn it off.

Ask about the page you're on

Type in the little box under your pet. It reads along on the sites you allow and answers in character, in whichever language you wrote in.

Ask for any animal

A penguin, a panda, a reindeer — say what you want and its look is drawn for you, then animated: idle, walking, sleeping. Not a menu of six.

Dress them up

Ask for a crown, a scarf, a raincoat. The outfit is drawn onto your own pet and kept in its wardrobe, so you can change back any time.

Eagle and chicks, football, capture the flag, a plain chase — games that need more than two pets on screen, and they sort out who plays what.

Questions

Is PixelPets free?

Installing it is free, and every new account starts with 2,000 credits. Talking to your pet and creating new looks use credits; more can be bought from inside the extension if you run out.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome on desktop — Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. It is installed from the Chrome Web Store.

Does it read the pages I visit?

Only on sites you have allowed it to, and only when it is answering you or speaking up. Everything it collects, and why, is in the privacy policy.

Can I stop it talking to me unprompted?

Yes. Type /talk under your pet and pick off, sometimes (the default, at most once an hour) or often. You can also just tell it to be quiet.

Can I have more than one pet?

Yes. Bring friends out and they wander, chat and play with each other.

Signing in

Signing in with Google saves your pets, their looks and their memories to your account, so they follow you between computers. What is collected, and what it is used for, is in the privacy policy.
